I’d like suggestions of places I can frequent after work. See, I am dating right now. And that means I see my boyfriend every evening before I go home to just sit and talk and drink a soda or eat a meal. But dating is darn expensive! I used to frequent this cool little joint in Garden City but the prices have gone up like three times so far so now we can’t afford to eat there everyday. So we go and drink a soda and sometimes talk late into the night and by the time I get home, I’m too tired to make something to eat. I can’t starve myself because I’m dating.
Just so y’all have an idea of how much we have to spend, we’ve limited ourselves to UGx 5,500 each a day. Nowadays you cannot get a decent meal for that amount of money. Besides Steers’ Good Guy meal that is. And Steers has no parking. That’s another limitation. Basically I must be too demanding. I want a place that is quiet and cozy, with secure parking, and I can have a meal within my budget. Also, it cannot be like in Buziga or some such ridiculously far place. Any ideas? My boyfriend and I will be grateful.
The socks that got away. About your zib ,I have no idea- just began chilling myself in the city after dark.

Javas Bombo road, there is some new coffee house at Nakumatt,
Comment by chanelno5 — July 28, 2009 @ 12:12 PM
Really? Java’s? Does it have a meal within my price range? I’ll try that. Nakumatt is actually a good idea long as they’re cheap enough.
Comment by carlotess — July 28, 2009 @ 12:24 PM
no Javas isn’t that cheap.except if you have just coffee and oba a ka cake from the super market? anyway, you might not get full and soon you might run out of things to order within your budget!
eh! you see each other buli daily?…hmmm!!!
ok, go to fast food reastaurants, order something nice, park your car somewhere nice(and not suspicious) and have your meal in the car…and talk.e.g you can get a nice pizza from Santos at 4500 or is it 3500?…then go eat that in your car!
or, Antonio’s(but it’s so young and the traffic is sooo maddening.ya?)…
then,
like B2B says, you could see each other like after two days you will have saved enough for a proper meal in a nicer place.no?

After 2 years and then some of dating someone, you’re wont to feel for them and their expenditure. Also, I have a job! LOL.

“Basically I must be too demanding”
Maybe you are Carlo…
and as a gentlman, doesn’t theman do his own thing other than hang out with you! He does need his own thing, and frankly.. so do you Carlo.
I do know afew places, but how about once in a while, you chill out and so does he, and then you look forward to having more time, and more spending money too and have a nice fancy dinner!
Like at Sam’s or Handi Restaurants, if Indian is your thing!
Or, just hang out at each other’s digs once in a while too… Coz Hang outs get tacky after a while…
Lugogo Rugby Club during the week is nice and quiet
there’s a place just after Kembabazi’s

B2B! Don’t lecture me on when I can or cannot see my man! I will be too demanding if I want to!
But seriously, we had stopped the daily thing but we’d cheat and have lunch together. It’s hard to be away from someone you love for a whole day. Maybe we’re still on kasigiri or something but we tried and failed to not see each other every day.
And yes, we do special meals once a week or something. Nawab, Haandi, Aangan. We luuuurrrve our Indian.
Comment by carlotess — July 28, 2009 @ 1:20 PM
lolz @ Indian food!!…well try out Open House-Kampala Institute, Khana Khazana (its really expensive..once in a year mayb), Kati Kati…its good ….and yeah the Old Nawab!!…..best Indian foods in Town, Stay away from Handi, Oasis Restau or Aangan….all those places have the worst food and they r not worth expense!!…
….hope all this helps
neways I hope by luuuurrve u mean u like right?…
mayb sometime I can cook as well…i normally cook good!!….oh but then u ppl have to arrange the place and stuff…coz i live wid a frnd

Yep, kasigiri….
must be…
appreciate the lecture Carlo….
Comment by [B2B] — July 28, 2009 @ 5:13 PM
Wamma Carlo that is not Kasigiri. There is nothing as wonderful as having someone who doesnt tire of seeing you everyday especially when the feeling is mutual. Those of Heaven and B2B better take lessons from you. If it was Kasigiri B2B’ and Heaven’s parents would have a schedule when they see each other to avoid kasigiri of everyday. Go ahead and hang out there will come times when by nature you want to be left alone. Ask me. And yet even as nature dictates I still want the everyday routine naye nga the amoebas in me dont want

Chanel my love, I’m enjoying the daily urge to see him as much as I can. When my body gets tired of him then I’ll remember your advice.

Hey i havent been in uganda quite a while but i think there are a few places around Christ the king, for one there is magic car park, you can park your car and go grab something to eat whist there..and it is close to a coupla takeaways(chillies, madonnas etc) and there is a restaurant on Christ the king building itself…
I am also sure the idea of buying things in a takeaway or something and then going to the centenary park not a bad idea, i think there are a few open places there to sit and have something to eat..
cheers

Move to Jinja. It is cheap; no traffic, everything is within walking distance.

hey go wid Heaven’s advice!! get something nice and have in the cozyness of the car albeit in a unsuspicious way!!….oh regding the eateries..well try out Zinello’s on Kamwokya..they make good pizzas..cost effective…but then the car idea has to stay…antonio’s is another place..except that wid traffic and parking probs at all this places u have to convince ur BF to sell the car and get a Byke (like me…hehhe)..wat say…m i not brilliant!!

My friend told me abt one indian restaurant.
Its called Namwongo (doesn’t sound very Indian, guess it got the name after the area) and its on the 8th Street.
You get take away lunch for Ugx 5500 per person (2 veggie dishes, rice, dhal, 3 roties, pickle)
